About the festival

Distances. Miles, borders, continents, oceans. Languages. Many things can divide people and nations. But equally there are many things that can bring us closer together, attract us to each other, and make the distance not so great and make us find that we are closer than we first thought.

Film, as the cultural expression of a nation, is a window through which we can look at other places and transport ourselves back in time. It allows us to look out for a moment and see another reality that may seem distant at first, but only seemingly so. It's not just that the film captures life stories, love stories, laughter and crying, death. But it is, not least, an expression of the human soul that knows no boundaries.

The Argentine Embassy in the Czech Republic is very honoured to be able to host, together with the Lucerna Palace, the 8th edition of the Argentine Film Week, a cultural event that has already become an obvious symbol of the affinity between Argentine and Czech culture. A cultural tradition that brings us closer together and reminds us that we are not alone on this journey, no matter where we come from. No kilometres, countries and oceans are enough to separate us.
