Daniel Mantovani, an Argentine writer and Nobel Prize winner, left his hometown forty years ago to pursue a successful literary career in Europe, writing about Salas and its inhabitants. At the peak of his fame, the mayor of Salas invites him to be named an "Illustrious Citizen." Against all odds, Mantovani decides to cancel his busy schedule and accept the invitation, returning to the town he once abandoned.
